Unlocking Potential Through Engaging Education

About Ivey Learning Center

Our Mission

Providing a rich outdoor  learning environment,  focusing on early childhood development, learning through inquiry, and working with others.

Who We Are

  • We are a Cooperative Learning Community for first through fifth graders who's families have chosen homeschooling.
  • We are early childhood teachers, a forest school expert, and a Pediatric Occupational Therapist with seven acres of forest and field as our classroom.
  • We are a resource for homeschooling families , offering six week classes in Archery, Campfire Cooking, Fishing and more!

Intrinsic Motivation

Children have an innate desire to learn. Student interest driven projects and activities provide many opportunities for integrating curriculum and fostering personal reasons for students to grow as readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, etc.

Learning in the Forest

Children's natural curiosities in their environments help guide our functional learning experiences on and off-campus.

Learning in Action: A Visual Diary

    Family testimonials

"As parents of a highly energetic child, we always look for  environments that prioritize each child's individual needs and support  their developing minds. The Ivey Learning Center has truly provided such  a wonderful space! The teachers are caring, understanding, and bring  years of experience in occupational therapy and outdoor learning,  helping children grow and thrive to their fullest potential."

"One of my kids struggles a lot with reading. While we don’t have any  formal diagnosis. It’s obvious reading is extremely tough for him. When I  talk to other parents I hear the horror stories- kids that once loved  being read to and looking at books before they could read now cry any  time the words book or read or write are mentioned. Kids who now think  they are dumb or can’t learn or give up all together because it’s just  too hard. I wish every child had what my kid does - the wonderful teachers at Ivey Learning  Center. My child  still brings a book with him everywhere he goes even though he can’t  fully read it. He comes home and writes stories or instructions to care  for his pet falcon (his dream, we do not have a falcon) as his afternoon  play. He loves being read to. He asks us if he can read to us. He still  LOVES trying to learn to read! He’s now technically in 2nd grade and I  know if he were anywhere else this would not be the case. He’d be  missing recess for extra tutoring as he would be considered behind. Or  he’d be hiding in the back of the classroom tuning out and getting bad  grades while teachers and administrators assumed he just wasn’t trying.  We are so grateful for this amazing school. We know that no matter the  struggle our child faces he will be met with the care, help, and most  importantly the appropriate level of expectation to keep him improving  AND loving the process. I highly recommend the Ivey Learning Center to  everyone but especially to those who’s child struggles with any subject  in school. The teachers have a way of encouraging the kids and  scaffolding them in such a way that makes them feel like they are capable learners -what more could any parent ask for?”

As a parent, nothing is more important than seeing your children truly thrive in their learning environment, and that is exactly  what this school has provided for my two kids. This school is unlike any traditional setting. What separates it  from others is its commitment to holistic, nature-based learning, where  children are encouraged to spend the majority of their time outside,  exploring, discovering, and connecting with the world around them.

The teachers are not just teachers; they are mentors, guides, and  true educational innovators. Their unique ability to understand each  child’s individual needs and how they learn best is truly remarkable.  They focus on teaching children how to learn, fostering curiosity,  critical thinking, and the skills to navigate new concepts with  confidence—skills that go far beyond memorizing facts. It’s this ability  to inspire children to learn on their own terms, at their own pace,  that sets this school apart.

In  today’s fast-paced world, it’s more important than ever that kids are  equipped with the foundation to think creatively, adapt, and stay  curious. This school provides that foundation in a way that is so vital  at this age. My children don’t just come home with worksheets and facts;  they come home with stories of exploration, challenges they’ve tackled,  and new ideas they’re excited about.

If  you’re looking for a school where your child will not only learn but  love learning, and where they’ll be nurtured in a thoughtful, inspiring  environment that truly understands what education should be, I  wholeheartedly recommend this school. It’s a place where children grow  not just academically, but as curious, capable, and confident  individuals.
